The Defence Secretary further disclosed that, in response to concerns raised by certain States/Union Territories regarding their exclusion from the parade, the Ministry of Defence has devised an innovative three-year roll-over plan. This plan guarantees fair participation on a rotational basis for all states and UTs over three years.

Anant Sutra

At Kartavya Path, the Ministry of Culture will present the ‘Anant Sutra – The Endless Thread’ textile installation, positioned behind the spectators seated in the enclosures. Anant Sutra pays homage to the saree, an enduring contribution of India to the global fashion scene.

This exceptional installation will feature nearly 1,900 sarees and drapes sourced from various regions of the country, elegantly displayed on wooden frames along the Kartavya Path. Each saree will be accompanied by QR codes, enabling spectators to scan and discover details about the weaving and embroidery techniques employed.

Commemorative Coin & Stamp

In honor of the nation’s 75th year of its Republic, the Ministry of Defence will unveil a Commemorative Coin and Commemorative Stamp as part of the celebrations.

National School Band Competition

In collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Defence organized a National School Band Competition at the All-India level for the Republic Day Celebrations 2024. The aim was to instill feelings of patriotism, unity, and pride among schoolchildren towards their country. A total of 486 school bands from 30 different States/Union Territories participated in the competition, with 12,857 students taking part.

The competition comprised three levels:

  • Level 1: State Level – conducted by States/Union Territories.
  • Level 2: Zonal Level – States/Union Territories were divided into 04 zones.
  • Level 3: National Level (Final) – Performance at the National Stadium, New Delhi.

The first two levels of the competition have already been conducted, and the Final level event will take place at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi on January 21 & 22, 2024. Sixteen bands selected from 15 States/Union Territories will perform during the event. These finalist teams will receive prizes, and some of the winners will have the opportunity to witness the parade.

Vande Bharatam 3.0

As a part of the Republic Day Celebrations 2024, the third edition of the Vande Bharatam dance competition was held. Women artists’ groups showcased their performances at the Kartavya Path, with approximately 200 artists presenting their talents in front of the Saluting Dais.

Veer Gatha 3.0

As part of the Republic Day Celebrations-2024, the third edition of Project Veer Gatha was held to inspire and raise awareness among children about the brave deeds and sacrifices of the Armed Forces. The Ministry of Defence, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, organized the event from July 13 to September 30, 2023.

An unprecedented 1.36 crore students from 2.42 lakh schools across India participated in Veer Gatha 3.0. Out of these, 100 exceptional students known as the ‘Super-100’ have been selected as winners. They will be honored by the Raksha Mantri in New Delhi on January 25, 2024, and will also have the privilege of attending the Republic Day Parade.

Bharat Parv

In line with the ‘Jan Bhagidari’ theme, the Ministry of Tourism will host ‘Bharat Parv’ at the Red Fort, Delhi, from January 23-31, 2024. This event will feature Republic Day Tableaux, Military Band performances, cultural showcases, Crafts Bazaar, and Food Courts offering a variety of cuisines from across India.

Parakram Diwas

On January 23, 2024, the Ministry of Culture will host Parakram Diwas at the Red Fort, commemorating Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. The event will feature various activities including 3-D projection mapping, light & sound shows, as well as projection mapping combined with theatrical plays and dance performances.

Once again this year, invitations to various dignitaries were electronically issued through the dedicated portal www.e-invitation.mod.gov.in. This ensured a secure, paperless process and facilitated attendance from people across the country at this national event.
